The story behind the Børge Mogensen 2204 Wing Chair

Børge Mogensen was one of Denmark's most successful furniture designers, and the Børge Mogensen 2204 Wing Chair is perhaps his most recognised piece. Designed in 1963, Børge Mogensen's Wing Chair was inspired by his mentor, Kaare Klint's sofas of the 1920s. You can see the influences in the Wing Chair's rounded armrests and arch of the back. Børge Mogensen, however, added his own twists with extra padded seating and a comfier looking aesthetic. The name Wing Chair comes from the distinctive backrest, but it also often known as the 2204 Chair.
